The guys — Andrew Lee, Alexander Noyes, Michael Bruno and Jason Rosen — chatted with us after their take over with host Ernie D about their upcoming album.

They shared that, “The songs aren’t that much different from what fans heard on ‘Fashionably Late.’ We’ve lived a lot of life in the past year, as far as getting to tour, seeing the country and going through relationships. We’re just telling the next chapter of our story.”

City of Albuquerque spokesperson Dana Feldman said the city is hoping to cut the budget for its fireworks show by 20 percent. She said it will do that with the help of fewer major headline bands.

“In years past we had names like Linda Ronstadt,” Feldman said “This year we’re having Honor Society.”

Honor Society is a group that toured with the Jonas Brothers. Feldman said it’s a great group for children and booking them saved the city a bundle.

Organizers also said they slashed production costs as much as 75 percent because they got rid of the large screen television, and the evening’s headlining band, The Honor Society, didn’t require as many technological bells and whistles in their performance.

FROM FREEDOM BLOGGINGHonor Society, “Camp Rock” actress Meaghan Jette Martin and R&B singer Mateo will reward students at Rio Vista Elementary School in Anaheim on Tuesday for working hard to improve their reading skills.

Reuben Skipper, a parent volunteer at the school, said students who met the incentive program goals were promised a good prize, though it wasn’t until Friday that plans for the event finally came together.

“I’ve been checking around with all the different publicists and agents,” he says. “And I got in touch with the Jonas Brothers (management group) and they liked the idea and put together the idea of getting a few people to come over.”

Honor Society, a band that has opened for the Jonas Brothers (as they are doing at Staples Center in the photo above), Martin, who plays Tess Tyler in “Camp Rock” and the upcoming “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” (she’s at the right in the photo of the girls) and singer Mateo will greet a few hundred students in the Rio Vista library and then read several stories to them.

Honor Society Drummer Advocates for Inflammatory Bowel Disease

FROM EARTH TIMESThe Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, the leading nonprofit aimed at finding cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, two chronic and painful digestive diseases collectively known as inflammatory bowel diseases, today announced that Alexander Noyes, drummer for the American pop rock band Honor Society, will participate in its annual Day on the Hill event, May 19 through 20 in Washington, D.C. in conjunction with World IBD Day. Honor Society recently concluded headlining their ‘Here Comes Trouble Tour’ which hit over 30 US cities.

Like hundreds of thousands of other young people across the country, Alexander lives with Crohn’s disease, and knows very well the impact it can have on everyday life. In addition to colitis, Crohn’s most often strikes young adults in the prime of their lives. The diseases—which often bring on pain, fatigue, weight loss, absences from school, frequent visits to the doctor, medication side effects, and surgery—can make life isolating and overwhelming for young adults.

“So many young people living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis don’t feel comfortable talking about their symptoms,” says Noyes. “I want to change that so I am participating in the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s annual advocacy event, Day on the Hill, to bring awareness to these poorly understood diseases so Crohn’s and colitis become illnesses we can openly talk about—like cancer or diabetes, and hopefully find a cure one day.” Alexander seeks to spread a positive message to young adults who face the same challenges he does.

Alexander’s involvement in Day on the Hill will enable the Foundation to come even closer to accomplishing its mission of increasing awareness about Crohn’s and colitis, funding research for better therapies and a cure, and providing education and support to those living with these diseases, especially the young adult population. Alexander will speak to advocates from across the country at a dinner event and meet with local legislators and encourage them to pass the IBD Research and Awareness Act, which currently has 100 co-sponsors in the House and Senate. This important piece of legislation will help the 1.4 million Americans with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Advocates can contact their legislators through www.ccfa.org/advocacy and encourage them to support this bill.

Honoring Society’s Rise No Accident

FROM DSC IN MOTIONOne of the age old questions has always been, can music really be taught or is it an ability that comes from within?

Yes, anyone can learn the notes and play them in sequences but is that all there is to it? Is it just taking classes and learning, or is it an emotion felt with every note? Unfortunately, there is no simple black and white answer for these questions. It’s a decision musicians have to make on their own.

New Jersey based band Honor Society has both classically trained and emotional inspired musicians. They also know first-hand what it’s like to fight for a dream.

Honor Society is comprised of lead vocal/guitarist Michael Bruno, keyboard/guitarist Jason Rosen, bassist Andrew Lee and drummer Alex Noyes. Forming in 2005, they spent a rough few years without a label playing the local bar scene. The guys even toured in a minivan, sleeping on fans’ couches before finally signing to Hollywood Records in 2009.

The band is now starting its second headlining tour after opening for big names like The Jonas Brothers and Timbaland, making a Billboard Top 20 album and having a cameo in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.

Yet, when sitting on their new tour bus and laughing about times spent in school, where most of them met, the members of the band seem very down to earth when sharing the story of their rise.

“In high school Jay and I learned a tremendous amount from our teacher Marty Celay,” Bruno explained. “He taught us so much about music and the guitar. Then we had more structured learning in college. It’s important to learn all that stuff but then you have to take time on your own to put it into practice, put it into play. Otherwise it’s just theory.”

Rosen graduated from Berkley College of Music, Bruno from New York University and Lee finished at University of Hartford. While Noyes started at Wagner College, he didn’t finish. Noyes explained why having less institutionalized musical training than his comrades never intimidated him.

“I think everybody sort of learns differently. Basically for me it was playing every weekend,” he said. “I was in bands since the start of high school. We would spend time in my basement and just play, play, play so that in and of itself was the foundation for me. And I also am a firm believer in feeling music instead of just learning music. There’s a creative side to it as well, not just a technical side.”

Lee quickly jumps in adding, “Speaking for Alex or when Alex joined the band, I don’t think there was any block in communication or musical know-how. It just all fit.”

They mutually agreed learning about their craft and putting it into practice every single day helped get them where they are.

“We didn’t get here by accident.” Noyes stated with a smile of accomplishment.

Daytona State College student and musician Brooke Jones sees where Honor Society comes from but likes the idea of taking it to another level.

“If you want to be a musician, like as a career, it’s something you can’t deny. The music is inside of you is dying to get out. You learn because you want to, you practice everyday and if you skip a day it’s like a piece of you is missing. You might not even know what notes you’re playing, you just play.”

So maybe the answer to the questions above is to find the balance that works for you. The one common ground is practicing your craft often because if one thing is true, you really won’t end up there by accident.

Honor Society In Nashville, “Doing the Most Good” as National Tour Wraps Up

Honor Society, the popular new band that we’ve partnered with the last few months, is wrapping up their national Here Comes Trouble tour with a show tonight in Nashville and a concert in Atlanta tomorrow, May 8.

***If you’re in the Nashville area and able to make it out to the concert at Rocketown tonight, please bring nonperishable food items! Alex, Andrew, Michael, and Jason are holding a food drive to benefit the local Salvation Army food pantry, and you can help them in “doing the most good!” ***

Honor Society has done an INCREDIBLE job of supporting Salvation Army programs across the country. They no doubt have a lot of things they are doing as they enjoy their national tour, but we very much appreciate that they’re also making it a priority to give back to communities along the way and encouraging their fans to do the same!

Nick Jonas mentions Honor Society

Nick Jonas mentioned Honor Society in a blog! Check it out:

I have had a busy month! Easter Sunday my brothers and I performed at Angel Stadium. April 16th was a Jonas Brothers takeover of Radio Disney, on the 17th I went and supported Joe and Demi at the premiere of Disney’s OCEAN. Joe and Demi did a duet on the soundtrack called “Make a Wave”.

On the 18th my family and I flew to NYC for the TJ Martell Foundation Family Day. My brothers and I along with our management were honored by the foundation. At the event we performed along with other artists Ana Maria, One Call, and Honor Society. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the cause. The TJ Martell Foundation is doing amazing things to help find the cure for Cancer and we were glad to be a part of it.

This whole month the production continues on JONAS. I can’t wait for you guys to see the new season.

My Simple Win this month is monitoring my highs and lows so I feel good and can be where I need to be, when I need to be there.

-Nick
