FROM SALVATION ARMY BLOG/HSL.comThey’re working their way up the east coast for their Here Comes Trouble tour, but trouble makers they’re not – the young pop rock band Honor Society continues their packed concert schedule while partnering with The Salvation Army, making their next stop in New York City.

They will be wrapping up National Volunteer Week with a concert at the NOKIA Theatre this Saturday night, performing after a day of service at The Salvation Army’s Harlem Temple Community Center (for you New Yorkers reading this, the Center is located at Lenox Avenue and 137th Street).

Michael, Alex, Andrew, and Jason will work with 175 other volunteers to renovate The Salvation Army Harlem Center by painting rooms and murals, as well as building shelves for kids in the afterschool program. You can visit The Greater New York Division’s website here for more information about services offered by The Salvation Army.

When was the last time you went to a concert and the band had just finished a day of volunteer work?! And these guys have been doing things like this non-stop, from playing with kids, to feeding the homeless, to preparing beds at homeless shelters for adults, all as a part of the many Salvation Army Programs across the country.

They are a great example to their fans by using their talent to raise awareness of volunteering and supporting the work of The Salvation Army in communities around the nation!

After New York, Honor Society will head to Norfolk, Virginia on Sunday where they’ll be interviewed by The Norfolk Salvation Army’s monthly TV show, and then they’ll continue on to Washington, DC for a performance at the Rock N Roll Hotel Monday night.

“We grew up in New York,” Honor Society frontman Michael Bruno told the crowd of some 2,000 fans at Nokia Theatre Saturday night.

“But this really feels like a dream I’ve had many times over.”

HS – who cut their teeth on a world tour with the Jonas Brothers last summer – are happy to be finally headlining a sold-out theatre in their homestate, rocking a two-hour show that included songs “See You in the Dark,” “Nobody Has to Know,” tour-titled “Here Comes Trouble,” and a medley of covers, including Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now,” Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody,” and Lady Gaga’s “Speechless.”

Honor Society pose for a fan through the fence at the New York Mets game on Friday afternoon.

JJJ reader Amanda writes to us, “I went to a New York Mets game and I had VIP tickets so I was able to go into the stadium to watch batting practice. During that time Andrew walked onto the field and I wasn’t sure if it was him or not! He was taking pictures with Alex and someone else and he was with some girl. I didn’t want to go up to him to find out it wasn’t him so I just stayed back. Right before the National Anthem was being sung, four mics were brought out. I was saying how funny it would be if it was them! So all of a sudden, they walk out from my section onto the field. When I saw them, I started crying.”

She continued, “The field was closed so I couldn’t physically go take a picture with them, but I went up to them with my dad and all that was separating us was a net. Alex turned around and saw me and I waved to him and he smiled and waved back at me. Then my dad asked if they could turn around for a picture for my camera. So they did, and after that I told them how much I loved them and my dad said that I was a huge fan and right then and there, Michael came right over to me, stuck his hand through the net, shook my hand, smiled and said ‘Nice to meet you!’ I said thank you and tried not to scream. As soon as I walked away, I started HYSTERICAL crying. It was amazing!”
